A while ago, I mentioned I was trying out the “Barefoot Doctor’s Guide to Health, Wealth, Happiness and Good Looks” and was impressed.

That was before I had finished the 30 day usage of the system he recommends.

Now that that’s over, I’m absolutely blown away.

Specific benefits

Specifically, it’s given me the confidence and courage to pursue bigger, bolder new projects that I’d always thought about, but shied away from. I feel fitter, healthier, and more energetic, and I’m getting at least 20% more done each day, whilst feeling more confident.

New opportunities have poured in, and all in all, it feels like a quantum leap forward. All from some daily breathing exercises and visualisations.

Never one to re-invent the wheel, it’s probably best just to give you the benefit of the feedback I just sent to the CD set’s makers:

Feedback to the set’s author

“Do this for 30 days and you will find your Health, Wealth, Happiness and good looks increase” said the Barefoot Doctor.
“Yeh, right,” I thought. But I did it anyway, even though it seemed a bit far-fetched that any audio programme, however good, could work quite that well. (I try out a lot of these things, and results are usually pretty mixed).
30 days later, and I really *have* experienced a visible, measurable boost in each of the promised areas…and learnt some fascinating, and refreshingly little-known personal development ideas along the way.
Many thanks Barefoot Doctor-this is a fabulous CD set, and does exactly what it promises.”

I could also have added, “It’s really nice to come across a set that’s so down-to-earth, and doesn’t take itself too seriously.”

And as you’ll know if you read this blog often, I don’t often fall in love with a product so comprehensively.

Any gripes?

Yes, one. Whilst the price (GBP 69.95) is well worth it for getting the kind of results I’m talking about, obviously there are no guarantees that one person’s experience will be the same as another. And, prior to experiencing it, it’s certainly a price that will give many cause for a good hard swallow and thoughts of scouring Ebay for the set, secondhand. (I’ve done it myself, many a time).

In fairness though, you don’t have to pay for it before you’ve listened and it does come on 30 days’ approval.

In any event, if you’re looking to invest in a program to help you, “get to the next level” or “break through a barrier I can’t explain” then this could be an excellent choice.

If this grabs you, you’ll find it at the link below (not an affiliate link, though to be honest, it’s such a fine resource, I’d be more than happy to promote it without hesitation)

http://www.nightingale.com/p~Product~Urban_Warriors_Guide.asp

During the “enforced website absence” see above, it actually became pretty stressful to be on the computer (think checkingto see if the site was back up every half hour or so).

So, asyou can imagine, I soon decided that activities away from the computer were better…and therefore got to read an absolute gem of a book.

Unlke a lot of recommendations Positive Psychology in a Nutshell by Dr Ilona Boniwell (what an apt name) is a print book. But it’s such an entertaining readable, yet lucid, intelligent, useful and plain fascinating summary that I can only recommend it utterly to anyone who wants to be happy (or help others to do the same).

You could argue that the book simply explains the light that psychological methods are shedding on topics which the self-growth movement has been pretty sure about for years. But what light! For example, she shows why you need a ratio of positive to negative thoughts of at least 3:1 in order to be happy…and also talks about the ratio above which positive thoughts can have an opposite effect, and why!

For just over a fiver, this concise little book is a great find, and a bargain.

(And, clearly, it’ll also help keep you calm if your website crashes

Hope it helps.

More soon

Travelling back to London yesterday, on a long car journey, one thing became clear.

According to each of the various radio stations that came through on the trip, yesterday was “Blue Monday.” Apparently, it’s so-called because it’s the day in the year when people are most likely to be depressed.

And the reason I know this is because each station outlined the gory details of such potential depression in considerable depth. Except one.

Now, obviously, I won’t be compounding the issue by repeating the depression details. But I was so inspired by the station that decided to buck the trend and do things differently, that this post is a homage to that decision, and an attempt to spread its cheer around the internet as well.

The idea

The gist of the cheery progamme’s approach was, “To counteract the blues, let us know what makes you happy”. Great stuff-especially as most of that which came back were the small but priceless things that make up life for most of us.

Given the nature of the internet this can go one stage further. So, please let someone else know what makes you happy, and encourage them to think what makes them happy, and to pass on both the concept and the happiness to someone else.

The “someone else” could be general, (like posting a comment here, or anywhere else) or just a chat with your nearest and dearest. The key points are the happiness, and the “pass-it-on”.

Starting it off

So to start it off, off the top of my head, some things that make me happy are:

-Snuggling under a duvet
-Coming into a warm house from the cold outside.
-Seeing other people smile
-Chocolate pudding
-Watching squirrels (and other wildlife)

NB. You don’t need five things…Just think of something, pass it on, and enjoy!

More soon
